PTS – Batchmixer
With the PTS-Batchmixer it is easy to mix powders with different characteristics in a contained manner. This system is especially suited to the needs of pharmaceutical applications where active substances have to be handled without any modification of their physical properties and where all risk of contamination has to be avoided.
The system comprises a main container with an integrated central deflector. A PTS powder transfer system with two tangential inlets is installed on top of the container. The powders are introduced automatically by the PTS-System and then circulated within the container for a predetermined period of time.
A homogenous distribution of the mixture in the tank is guaranteed thanks to the deflector. The mixing effect in the PTS body, when the two jets of powder meet, makes it possible to increase the speed and effectiveness of the mixing process significantly. Since the speed at which powders are circulated is limited, particles are not damaged.
The system can operate under inert conditions, which makes it possible to mix hygroscopic, oxygen sensitive or explosive powders.
This technology is easy to integrate into pharmaceutical production lines. Powders can be transferred automatically from drums, bags or even directly from process equipment (e.g. a granulator). At the end of the mixing process the system can be emptied completely and automatically towards the next production step.
The system has no moving or rotating mechanical parts therefore, it is easy to clean automatically.
